This program provides funding to develop essential community facilities in rural areas. An essential community facility is defined as a facility that provides an essential community service in primarily rural areas, and does not include private, commercial, or business undertakings.
Grants average between $40,000-$50,000. Grants are authorized on a graduated scale; applicants located in small communities with low populations and low incomes will receive a higher percentage of grants.
Loans are dependent on an applicant’s ability to repay and range from $50,000-$75 million.
